Trabecular Tectonics

Trabecular Tectonics is a system of lightweight architectural structures based on the biological construction of bone.

The system is generated through a form-finding process that mimics nature’s evolutionary approach to design. Advanced computational design, Material Optimisation algorithms, and 3D printing make it possible to generate new forms of architecture that use fewer materials without sacrificing performance. Starting with pre-determined design goals, the system can generate innumerable variations of a design to find the most efficient option. By exploring how the biological model of bone microstructure can be applied architecturally, Trabecular Tectonics create strong and flexible systems of construction that avoid material waste.
