Runtu Laqu

Eating ceviche on the beach is an important part of cultural life in Lima, however the disposable packaging currently used poses a threat to marine life while also spoiling a significant public space.

Runtu Laqu offers a biodegradable alternative, the disposable packaging being made of waste eggshells and alginate, a natural polymer obtained from brown algae. The combination of these two materials with water, pressure and heat creates a final product that is both rigid and water-resistant, making it ideal for containing food.
