Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a disease that causes the death of neurons controlling voluntary muscles.

Patients eventually lose the ability to speak, or smile, but their brain activities are the same, meaning that they are trapped in a body that no longer allows them to express themselves. Holowave uses brain-computer interface technology, a neural network system, deep learning and face recognition to allow ALS patients to escape this situation The device captures brain transmissions through a wearable device, which then projects the user’s face as a hologram in front of them to show their emotions.
