What will happen to oil refineries in a future without oil? In Kuwait, oil refineries are both a significant piece of infrastructure and an important part of the country’s industrial heritage. The designer has explored the potential of oil refineries in a post-oil era, proposing a four-phase adaptation process for Shuiaba Refinery as a case study. Through partial deconstruction, research and site remediation, the refinery is transformed into a vertical-farming site – adapting to a new era of sustainable production.
