Portable Delivery Stool is a birthing device that provides a safe delivery method for off-site and accidental childbirth. According to World Health Organisation estimates, in 2015, 303,000 women died during or shortly after pregnancy and childbirth. Almost all of these deaths occurred in low-resource communities. Portable Delivery Stool offers a response to these preventable deaths, in the form of a low-cost and lightweight stool. The stool holds a basic delivery kit, and is wrapped in a cover that unfolds to form a hygienic delivery surface. Either stored in the facility entrance or used by medical professionals in rural areas, Portable Delivery Stool offers a low-cost solution for birthing emergencies.
