Interwoven is a family of objects designed for Latin diaspora communities, aimed at addressing the trauma caused by the separation of undocumented families through detention or deportation. The main artefact is Corazon, a heartbeat imitator that records the user’s pulse and recreates it through a haptic motor. The user’s heartbeat can then be carried by their loved ones after separation, creating a sense of closeness and reassurance. The casing and charging station of Corazon is an abstraction of traditional Virgin Mary sculptures merged with the ‘Venus’ of Valdivia, a pre-Columbian ceramic figure representative of motherhood and fertility.
