Design for Vulnerability is a socially sustainable model to provide clean water to communities in need. The core design at the basis of the project is a natural water filter capable of providing clean water for a household for one year for $35. Through a fundraising and collaboration scheme bringing together local families with local organisations, the cost of the service can be reduced to $15. The project was developed for the coastal community of El Majahual in El Salvador, but its principles can be applied to different contexts.
