Hold the elements in your hand

Chem Tokens is a tool for teaching chemistry by combining Augmented Reality with physical construction. The project’s design encourages users to understand the basic principles of chemistry by getting them to connect atoms to form molecules. Each ‘token’ represents an element on the periodic table. Students join tokens to create chemical compounds, which they can then view in Augmented Reality via a mobile app. This combination of physical pieces and digital visualizations makes the often-abstract experience of learning chemistry concrete and personal.

    Karolina Petraityte is product designer based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Currently studying master’s degree in Vilnius academy of Arts. At present, she is focused on designing educational tools combined with technological innovations. Besides personal product design projects she is working with product and special design, branding campaigns and project consulting. Karolina won Young designer prize 2018 main prize and public choice. Finished collaboration with United States of America Embassy Vilnius. Studied in exchange program in Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Presented her work in Dutch Design week Eindhoven, Netherlands. Work was featured Klokgebouw Trend Toures. Now she is invited to represent Lithuanian design in Tokyo, Japan.more
