Bento Lab

About

At home bio engineering kit

Bento Lab is a user-friendly DNA analysis laboratory. Combining the essential tools for molecular biology, users can take a biological sample, extract its DNA, and conduct a simple genetic analysis. A small rotation mechanism extracts DNA from a biological sample (saliva, meat, hair follicles, etc). A DNA amplifier then specifies and replicates a DNA extract, making millions of copies. An illuminated gel unit visualises the DNA by size, allowing users to interpret the results. Bento Lab has both professional and amateur uses, including testing for lactose intolerance, checking a hamburger for horse meat, extracting ancient DNA from fossils, or identifying species with DNA barcoding. By rendering advanced equipment accessible, Bento Lab enables everyday users to explore the biology that shapes our lives.
