alite* is a speculative device that transforms clinical environments by converting clinical sounds into lights that notify staff of the different stages in the chemotherapy process. It consists of two components: the first connects to the I.V. drip bag that administers the medicine and monitors the process using a light-based colour code; this element sends notifications to a second component worn by nurses, which warns them about which operation they are required to do next. Replacing clinical sounds with colours, alite* aims to assist medical staff, whilst providing a more efficient service and a calmer environment for patients.
