SUPPORTING SOCIAL IMPACT STARTUPS
Launched in 2019, Global Grad Show’s entrepreneurship programme offered the participating graduates a route to advance their projects towards implementation. The programme focused on training, covering business skills and methodologies necessary to the development of the projects, and invites graduates to interact with stakeholders from the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Free for the participants to take part, the programme was open to all Global Grad Show graduates and operated in three phases:
- 1. An online programme, between August and October, helped over 40 participants with understanding of key business concepts, entrepreneurship, start-up building and social enterprises. The online training included assessments of the graduates’ progress, tutorials and exercises around the value proposition and viability of their projects.
- 2. The two-day boot camp included 23 graduates from 23 universities and 19 nationalities who successfully completed the online training phase. The boot camp included intensive workshops, tutorials and mentoring for selected projects, where entrepreneurship specialist supported graduates to refine their business proposals and pitches, covering topics such as business models for social enterprises, marketing, performance management and business pitch training.
- 3. The resulting investment decks were presented by each graduate during a demo night attended by Investment Corporation of Dubai, A.R.M. Holding fund investment committee, invited accelerators and investors from the region.
The programme’s objective is to support early-stage social startups in their journey to becoming viable and sustainable businesses. On November 2019, A.R.M. Holding has announced a AED 10 million 10-year fund to support Global Grad Show startups, to be selected from each year’s entrepreneurship programme cohort.
