Smart Futuristic Pipe Joints

About

A system of sensors and brackets to detect and remedy leakages in urban water networks

Many water pipelines are affected by leakages that can hinder access to safe and clean water. Leakages also cause enormous waste of precious sources of treated water. The project aims at solving this problem by developing a two fold approach. First, a microwave leak detector, which is precise and cost effective compared to existing technologies. Last, a 3D printed adaptable joint that can be used to stop the leak once it is identified. The combined solution could help improve access to safe water for millions of people.
